Previously associated with Johnson Matthey, Plc., where he held positions as Operations Manager for Electronic Materials, Marketing Manager for Chemicals, and Manufacturing Manager for Chemicals. Prior to Johnson Matthey, John held various Manufacturing and Project Engineering Management positions for the General Electric Plastics Group.
John has a BS in Chemical Engineering and an MBA.

A. Chuck Woodward
Manufacturing Manager, Pure Guard Div.
Division Manufacturing Manager for our coated stainless steel line of Pure Guard products. Chuck has over 35 years experience in precision welded stainless steel manufacturing, including on site installation work throughout Asia and the Americas.
Chuck has previously owned and operated his own companies, and holds Top Secret clearance from the U.S. Government
Frederick (Rick) W. Van Name, P.E.
Engineering Manager
Engineering Manager for Composites USA. Formerly with Thiokol Corporation where he held various engineering and management positions, including Manager of the Advanced Technology Department, Rick has a wealth of knowledge in the area of composite structural design. Rick is listed in Who's Who in Engineering and Science, is a Member of the AIAA Technical Subcommittee on Structures, and has 21 patent disclosures relating to composite structural design.
Rick has his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, his M.M.A.E., Composites Materials Program and advanced course work in composite materials and solid mechanics. Rick is a licensed P.E. in the states of Illinois, Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
Leon W. Swanson
Field Manager 
Leon has been with Composites USA since the company's inception. Prior to helping start the company, he was in charge of field construction for other regional fiberglass fabricators. Leon now has close to twenty five years hands on experience in managing industrial plant construction projects and can make sure the demanding safety requirements for companies such as Allied, DuPont, Lonza, and Occidental are met.

Jack Pachalis
Quality Assurance Manager |
Jack has a wide variety of experience in various composites and plastics manufacturing processes, including RIM, SRIM, RRIM, RTM, compression molding, thermoforming, vacuum infusion molding, hand lay-up, spray-up, and filament winding. Prior to joining Composites USA, Jack held composites engineering positions in research and development, process engineering, and materials and testing.
Jack has his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Delaware, with an emphasis in composite materials.

Roger A. Smith
Western Region Sales Manager
Roger Smith has been involved with the air pollution control market since 1979 and with FRP applications for the market since 1981. Roger has previously been sales manager for Fiber-Dyne (Environmental Corrections), General Manager for the Fiber Fab Division of J.B. Rodgers Mechanical Contractors, National Sales Manager for A.T.S. Plastics and President of Skilcraft Fiberglass. Throughout Roger's career, he has been very active with Factory Mutual and their requirements for low smoke, flame retardant products. Roger is spear heading Composites USA efforts in these and traditional corrosion markets from our AZ office.

Edward D. Bailey, Jr.
Dual Laminate Programs
Ed has been intimately involved with thermoplastic lining, fabrication and fiberglass dual laminate programs for over 20 years. Formerly with 4B Plastics where he held numerous management positions including responsibilities for engineering, manufacturing, installations and sales, and later with Bailey’s Plastics Consulting & Inspection company providing fabricator and end user support, as well as expert witness services when required. Ed is the holder of the key patent related to the use of Halar surfacing veil for FRP applications, serves on the AWS committee setting industry standards for thermoplastic forming and welding, is involved with ASME RTP-1 dual laminate committees and heads up the company’s efforts in thermoplastic lined composites and steel.
